In past summers, Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, has played host to the Upward Bound Olympics. Due to financial constraints and the ever-increasing cost of transporation, many Iowa Upward Bounds can no longer justify the cost of traveling so far for a one day event. Consequently the UB Olympics are no longer held, but instead The University of Iowa's Upward Bound has organized an alternate day of fun for our students.
Although we had no six-week summer program in 2008 due to the severe flooding throughout Iowa, our academic coordinator Dana and her family opened their home and family farm to Upward Bound. A great day of fun—Survivor: Iowa—was held at the Thomann family farm.
Details will be provided once students arrive on campus for this year's day of activities. Get ready for a day of fun!
