Kelly Strang—We Can Do It

Kelly spent her childhood on the prairies of Nebraska, her adolescence in the rolling hills of Iowa, and her collegiate years on the frozen tundra of Minnesota. A true Midwesterner, she cannot imagine life without four seasons and cream soup casseroles. Kelly takes pride in being a strong woman and an optimist.

Kelly had the great opportunity to attend a women’s college for her undergraduate degree—St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN. At St. Kate’s she received a degree in English Literature with minors in Philosophy and Theology. After college Kelly went on to serve two terms of service with Americorps, a network of national service programs that engage Americans in intensive service to meet the nation’s critical needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment. She taught for two years at Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis, MN with the non-profit organization Admission Possible, working with forty wonderful college-bound students. This experience led Kelly to her passion for working with high school students.

Kelly is happy to be home in Iowa and working for Upward Bound. She enjoys going to her brothers’ football games, making guacamole, collecting ugly lamps, going to small town festivals, watching old movies, and finding ways to glue glitter to almost anything. Kelly is an excellent dancer.
