Campus Days

Campus Days are held three times during the academic year, either on The University of Iowa campus or another designated location. Depending on the events scheduled, Campus Days will be either on a Saturday or, in rare circumstatnces, on a Sunday. Trasnportation is provided for all students and the day is spent attending an event on The University of Iowa campus or in the Iowa City area.

The Fall Campus Day involves performing community service. UB students have helped restore a 100-year old octagonal barn in Downey, Iowa, that is on the National Register of Historic Places. Check out some photos.

In the spring, the Spring Campus Day centers around cultural events of all types. Some of the past events have included the annual Hawkeye spring football scrimmage, visiting the African-American History Museum in Cedar Rapids, attending a play at University theaters, and seeing an art exhibition at the University Museum of Art. Sometimes past UB participants (alumni) attend Campus Day and share their experiences about college. Photos of the 2008 Campus Day.

In January, UB hosts a Senior Campus Day that is always devoted to graduating high school seniors and their parents. At this meeting, detailed information is presented by guest speakers on financial aid and making the transition to college.

In late April or early May, the graduating high school seniors return for another campus visit. During this visit, the seniors stay overnight at The University, attend a summer orientation, and register for the college class that will be taken during the Bridge summer.

Due to the extensive flooding in Iowa during the summer of 2008, the six-week summer program was cancelled. One activity that could be held was a special "Olympiad" hosted by our academic coordinator Dana and her family. Survivor: Iowa was held on the Thomann family farm.
