After-School Meetings

FBI agent at after-school meeting

Students listen to an FBI agent discuss careers in law enforcement during an after-school meeting.

During the academic year, participants attend a two-hour Upward Bound meeting once a week at their local high school (in Davenport, the meetings are held at Central High). Meetings are held from 3:30 to 5:30 in all communitites except in West Liberty, where the meetings are held from 3:15 to 5:15. On days of early dismissals, the after-school meeting times will be adjusted to fit with the shortened school day.

In the meetings, students experience a curriculum that pulls together academics, career counseling, and technology. Participants learn things about going to college. Students have also performed community service projects during meeting times and learned about careers that require a college education.
